RANDALL AND HOPKIRK (BLU)

Enter Spy Vibe's 1960s book contest (ends Dec 16th). New release: Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) is coming to Blu-ray! This charming and unusual British television series put a supernatural twist on the detective genre and is a must-see for Spy Vibers. Transmitted in most regions between 1969 and 1971, the program was created by writer Denis Spooner (The Avengers, Doctor Who, UFO, Man in a Suitcase, The Baron, The Champions, Department S, Jason King, The New Avengers, The Protectors, Fireball XL-5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, The Adventurer, - what didn't this guy work on?) and produced by Monty Berman (The Saint, The Baron, The Champions, Department S, Jason King). From Network: "One of ITC's best-loved series, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) took the standard "private eye" formula that the company excelled in and turned it on its head... by making one of the partners a ghost! Starring Mike Pratt as the rugged, down-to-earth Jeff Randall and Kenneth Cope as his late partner Marty Hopkirk, the glamour is supplied by Annette Andre as Marty's wife, Jean. Newly restored in HD from the original 35mm film elements for this Blu-ray edition, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) has been given a new lease of (after) life! Episodes on volume one include: My Late, Lamented Friend and Partner: A private investigator finds himself with a ghost as a partner - the ghost of his own former partner who has been murdered! But What a Sweet Little Room: It takes a ghost to spot a phoney medium - and the same ghost to help his partner solve a murder mystery. For the Girl Who Has Everything: A ghost becomes a ghost-hunter when death strikes in a haunted castle. A Sentimental Journey: To escort ten thousand pounds’ worth of goods from Glasgow to London isn't Jeff Randall's idea of a healthy assignment, but when the consignment turns out to be an attractive blonde it’s a different matter." UK distributor Network will be releasing the series in separate volumes between now and October 2017, essentially as they go through the remastering process. Buyers can get a free slipcase at the conclusion of the releases to house their collection. More info at Network here. Pre-order volume 1 now at Network. Only 10 pounds! Note: Blu-ray is region 2, so viewers in the States will need an all-region player. Learn more about this wonderful series at Randall and Hopkirk (Declassified).
